You approached the fox and spoke of your noble quest to locate the wondrous Archfey of Lilies, Gavalda. Though its questioning of your motives and purpose was intense, your honesty reached its ears and it stood to reveal a swirling green portal. Before allowing you to move on, it spoke a few words in a flowing fey speech and you felt yourselves marked (See the backer-only content below/in your browser for a new preview!).

Stepping through the portal, you find yourselves in a luscious forest filled with brightly colored flowers. You see two paths before you. One leads deeper into the forest along a babbling brook, and the other leads to an area of decay filled with strange mushrooms.

Your search for a portal takes you to libraries of ancient knowledge, where you find a hidden map of a nearby old growth forest. The map has marked a great tree in the forest as a natural portal to the fey realms, and warns of a protector that resides there; bound to the tree by an oath that requires it to ensure that only the worthy (whatever that may mean) pass through to the other side.

Once at the forest, you travel off the beaten path - following your map closely and keeping the great tree ever in your sights as you scout the way ahead. Arriving at the tree, you find yourselves in the presence of an enormous fox. It lies amongst the tree's ancient roots; almost appearing a normal-sized fox if not for the great distance between you, and the vast presence of the tree itself. It may be sleeping, though it's hard to tell whether it's truly unaware of your presence or is simply feigning ignorance.

Moving took a lot out of me the last couple of days, so apologies for the slight delay in getting this first adventure started. Since the quest selection poll had a couple of front-runners, I'll plan to do at least those top 2 choices (roughly one mini adventure each week, with some themed preview content released during each one). That means this week will be Seek the Archfey!

I'm back with a new series of play-by-polls! I aim to put up a new poll each day during the campaign (though it might be a little spotty this weekend since I'm moving), with the goal being about 1 or 2 new pieces of preview content each week while we have fun telling a story together - so be sure to check in regularly to help guide the story and lead us toward the reward types of your choosing!

Our journey begins with a choice:

We've surpassed our goal of 750 backers, and that means five of the histories in the book will be submitted and voted on by the backers! This will consist of backers submitting (via a Google Form I'll put together for all the submissions) a tentative name and brief (one sentence or less) description of the history. I'll consolidate the submissions and get a sense for the most submitted themes as well as any that stand out to me in particular and then put it to a vote as to which are your top 5!

I really like doing these backer-voted content goals, so I'm making another one! I was going to try and find one that (in theory) would space out from the next funding stretch goal a little more, but I think 1000 backers is too important a number to skip over.

So, if we reach 1000 backers I will have 5 of the Pact Entities in the book be created via a backer-submitted and backer-voted process as well!
